Doing a Desert Safari is definitely one of the three ‘must-do’ activities when in Dubai or in the Arabian Gulf! This option is good for all who don’t want to get-up long before sunrise to join the breakfast Desert Safari and have no time or commitments already to do a Desert Dinner Safari, as this particular safari is offered with lunch – and all the entertainment and activity options which typically come only with the dinner safaris!
At the meeting point in the desert we will meet other guests who will join our group for this stunning experience. Our experienced, specially trained and licensed drivers will have part-deflated the tires of their Landcruisers to have more grip in the loose sand before we will start the ‘dune bashing’ – driving up, down and all around the sand dunes on our way to the Caravanserai campsite, interrupted by a photo stop on a high sand-dune for some desert photography or a selfie!
From here it is only a short drive to our camp, where we will welcomed by members of the camp’s team according to Arabic traditions with Arabic Coffee and Dates. We then will be guided to the area of the camp with semi-low seating on tables – all around the stage – where we can enjoy a mixed buffet of local and international foods, including starters like hummus or baba-ganoush, bbq-ed meat items, salads, biriyani type rice, vegetables, pickles, olives, pita bread and a variety of local and international deserts
During lunch will have live entertainment on the stage for everybody to enjoy, which include a traditional Emirati Hair Dance, spinning performance by the Tanura Dancer – and a belly dancer.
Once lunch is over (or indeed at any time during our stay in the camp) we could take a ride on a camel for the purpose of taking photos, get a traditional henna tattoo designed on our hands or arms, pose with a falcon – or get dressed like a local and get our pictures taken all dressed up like an Gulf Arab.
We then will return to the meeting point from where we will be taken back to our hotels in the early afternoon – to rest, relax and get ready for the next agenda point or indeed the transfer to the airport to continue our journey.
