Our experienced, specially trained and licensed driver will take you out of town on the most direct way into the desert. After a brief stop near a camel farm to part-deflate the tires, we will start the dune-bashing experience, up and down and all around the sand-dunes, resembling in many ways the experience of riding a roller-coaster – driving into the sunset. Shortly before sun set, we will take a stop on one of the higher sand dunes to enjoy the sun setting as a rose-red ball behind the sand-dunes at the horizon. We will have some light refreshments and fruits – before we will gradually move towards our private desert hide-away for the evening. We will have the option of driving all the way – or to take camels to take us the last kilometer or so to ride to our campsite – accompanied by an experienced camel handler!
Arriving there, our butler will welcome us in the typical Arabic manner, with Arabic Coffee, dates and rosewater scented cold towels before showing us around, while a oud-player generates an cosy ambience
Our private desert hide-away consists of a majlis-style Bedouin tent, the floor inside and outside the tent covered with Arabic rugs and cushions, inviting to sit down, lay-back and enjoy the overwhelming tranquility of the desert and the beauty of the limitless desert sky. Enjoy a refreshing drink – perhaps even a sheesha – and the campfire which illuminates the site, together with some torches which are strategically distributed around the site. A sheesha-boy and the henna-lady are discreetly waiting to fire-up a sheesha or do one of the intricate henna tattoos on hand, arm or shoulder… if desired.
Our butler and the chef in the meantime will quietly prepare our dinner, set-up the starters on the table, barbequing the meat, fish or seafood and getting the side dishes ready for service
Once dinner is ready, we will sit down on the low seating around an equally low table where a rich mezzah with typical cold and hot appetizers is awaiting us, followed by grill food items with an assortment of vegetables – and a variety of Arabic sweets, fresh fruits and cheeses to end the meal!
Sometime during the main-course the entertainment will commence at an gentle pace – possibly starting with the traditional Emirati Hair-dance, followed by the spinning Tannora dance, the dazzling fire-show – ending with a belly dance show (or with the fire-show – it’s up to you and at your leisure!
As the time ticks away, we will get ready to return to town, sometime before midnight … unless of course we would decide to stay for the night …
